3 of a family shot dead in Kushtia, ASI arrested

Three members of a family were shot dead by some miscreants in Kushtia on Sunday. The incident took place at Custom intersection area of the town around 11am. Dr Tapas Kumar Sarker, Resident Medical Officer of Kushtia General Hospital, confirmed the deaths.The deceased were identified as Shakil, 28, his wife Asma, 25, and their five-year-old son Robin.
The accused ASI is working in Fultala police station of Khulna. However, the cause of the murder could not be known yet.
Witnesses said that they suddenly heard gunshots around 11:00 pm. The child was first shot from behind and then the couple. Market vendors then chased the shooter and detained him in a house.
Later, the injured were rescued and took to Kushtia General Hospital, where all three died while undergoing treatment.
On information, Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police Atiqul Islam visited the spot.
