UNB, Dhaka :

The government has appointed incumbent Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Besides, Additional IGP of the Police headquarters M Khurshid Hossain has been made the DG of Rab.

A gazette notification was issued in this regard by the Home Ministry's Public Security Division on Thursday. 

The appointment of Abdullah Al Mamun will be effective from September 30 when incumbent IGP Benazir Ahmed will go on retirement on the same day.

Al Mamun was appointed Rab DG through a gazette published on April 8 in 2022.
