Paralysed film actress Ranjita wants to survive, seeks help

Entertainment Report :
Once popular film actress Ranjita made her silver screen debut in late Razzak directed movie titled ‘Dhaka 86.’ The actress acted opposite Bappa Raj in that commercially
successful movie and got huge appreciation from the audience as a heroine during that time. The playback song of that movie titled Pathorer Prithibite Kacher Hridoy was one of the memorable tracks.
On September 28, Ranjita felt numbness in her left hand and leg and after that she was admitted to the hospital.
The actress informed that she is not doing well. Half of her body has been paralysed. She is under treatment at Mugda General Hospital. While talking with this correspondent, Ranjita said, “I cannot ever talk properly. I want to survive. I want to recover from this physical condition. I request all to extend their support for me.”
Ranjita had a psychological breakdown upon expressing her helplessness. She said, “My treatment is very expensive and I cannot bear it alone. One of my brothers is disabled person. I don’t have any other option rather than asking for help from the Prime Minister. Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is known for her kindness. If she shows a little mercy on me, I might find some way to live as I don't have any source of income right now. I have a son but his father took him away from me and I am living an isolated life. So, I need support.”
The actress also said that she has asked for help from the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association as well. While talking in this regard, Ranjita said, “I hope the artistes and journalists will stand beside me.”
Ranjita is the sister of the late singer Jewel. She tied the knot with actor Ustad Jahangir. Later, they got separated long time ago. She acted in 29 movies and also produced 18 movies, which includes ‘Kungfu Konya,’ ‘Moron Lorai,’ ‘Karate Master,’ ‘Premik Rongbaz,’ etc. Therefore, ‘Raja Mistri’ and ‘Jiner Badshah’ were two more movies directed by Razzak where Ranjita appeared as lead heroine. Ranjita was last seen in movie ‘Neel Noksha.’ She also worked in television dramas where late Atiqul Haque Chowdhury’s ‘Circus Dekhun’ was her one of the mentionable dramas.
