Staff Reporter :
Providing packed food items as tiffin for the students during their school time could be the best solution for ensuring proper safety of food or hygienic food in terms of meeting their nutritional demands as well as for good health, said the Chairman and CEO of Well Group, Syed Nurul Islam,
He was addressing two separate sessions as special guest, one is titled "Challenges and Opportunities to Introduce Inclusive School Meal" and another one is titled "Inclusive financing and investment for Nutrition." organized jointly by BIID Foundation in support with the Ministry of Food, Department of ICT, ICT Division, USAID, GAIN and Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University as part of the 'International Nutrition Olympiad 2022' on Sunday.
As a leading entrepreneur in food sector also an expert in the relevant field, Syed Nurul Islam stressed need to formulate a 'Nutrition Policy'.
He said the government should frame the policy but not thinking the private sector as an enemy. The private sector stakeholders will be responsible to operate in the market with due compliance and the general public and parents have to be involved in the process for making a acceptable approach and ensuring implementation properly.
"Naturally the food habit of rural people and urban people are not same. Affluent class families have ruined the food habits of their children at their own home, it's easy to perceive that the changes in economic situation certainly bring about changes in the food habit of people, so it needs to go to the roots otherwise it will be tough to address the challenges", opined Nurul Islam.
He said if there have no sustainability, it is not possible to survive in any trend of businesses. It always deepens on profitability, I believe in market economy where there have no way to survive without profitability or sustainability.
No CSR is also not possible to think without profitability. So we have to look that how the private sector engagement can be possible or effective, because all these depends upon sustainability or profitability. Farhana Haque, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Tonima Sharmin, Nutrition Officer, Nutrition Unit, WFP, Md Shahid Uddin Akbar, CEO, BIID Foundation, Ayesha Akter Kona also spoke on the occasion.
Rudaba Khandker, Country Director of Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) was also present as and delivered speech in the session, titled "Inclusive financing and investment for Nutrition."
"Well Food and Beverage Company Limuted" a concern of the renowned business conglomerate, "Well Group" became the food partner of the   'International Nutrition Olympiad 2022' with their quality food items which was also widely praised by the participants.
