Police will be on vigilance in markets: DMP

19 April 2023

Staff Reporter  :
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq has said that the police will be on constant vigilance in the markets of the capital.
He said this in an exchange meeting with businessmen at the conference room of DMP headquarters on Tuesday (April 18).
This exchange meeting was organized with the business leaders on the review of frequent fire incidents in various markets recently and the determination of actions and the security of the market during the upcoming Eid and post-Eid.
In the president's speech, the DMP commissioner said that there should be arrangements to prevent fire from happening in the market and necessary preparations should be taken to extinguish the fire in case of any sudden fire. Especially in case of fire, there should be a detailed
plan of which way the fire service personnel will enter, which way the goods will be taken out easily. Such plans can be posted in public places for the convenience of all.
One of the causes of fire is not repairing old electrical lines, using fake, cheap and substandard electronic products.
He suggested using quality electronic products to avoid fire risk and to install CCTV cameras in markets which do not have CCTV cameras.
DMP Commissioner said, our police will be on alert all the time. Keep in constant contact with the OC of the local police station regarding the security of the market. Apart from that, you can install IP cameras in the market to monitor the market from home. The meeting discussed overall security and law and order control, market-centric security measures including shopping malls and jewelery markets and fire prevention measures.
Business leaders presented their suggestions and proposals in the meeting. Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Intelligence Chief (DB) Additional Commissioner of Police Mohammad Haron Or Rashid said that intelligence surveillance has been increased in almost every market of the capital. He told reporters after meeting with business leaders at DMP headquarters on Tuesday (April 18) afternoon.
