Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has urged all the city dwellers to be more cautious about their belongings before leaving for their home districts to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr.
The IGP said this while addressing a press briefing after visiting Sayedabadh Bus Terminal in the capital on Wednesday.
He said, "You need to be extra cautious . . . you either take your cash, jewellery and other valuables with you or leave those with your relatives staying in the city before leaving for your home districts."
Abdullah Al-Mamun said that sub-control rooms have been set up already in different places. We have beefed-up security by setting up sub-control rooms in various places across the country including Dhaka. We have taken all types of
measures so that common people can go to their destinations safely and quickly.
The IGP also said that the Highway Police is performing the duty to ensure the safety of the highway during the Eid. Besides, other police units including the district police have been working over the issue. If you drive recklessly, the police will take action. Even, there will be mobile courts in different places and they will also take measures. Our campaign against unfit cars is ongoing, he added.
